The Benefits of Obedience and Worship

(by Hazrat Ml Hakeem Muhammad Akhtar Saheb RA))

– One of the blessings of virtuous and pious deeds which is granted in this very world is that one will be granted Barakah (Prosperity) in one’s sustenance i.e. sometimes apparent increase also takes place.
– One of the benefits of obedience and worship is that various forms of Barakah will descend from the sky and ground.
– One benefit of obedience is that one is freed from all types of difficulties and worries and Allah Ta’aala grants salvation from every type of affliction.
– One of the benefits of obedience and piety in this world is that objectives are made easy. Allah Ta’aala eases all tasks and aspirations are realized.

– One of the benefits of piety and obedience is that by the Barakah of piety, life becomes a joy. It is clearly seen that kings also do not have such a joyous life as the pious servants of Allah Ta’aala.
– One benefit of piety and obedience in this world is that rainfalls, wealth and children increase, trees bear fruit and the water in the rivers increases.
– One benefit of good deeds in this world is that Allah Ta’aala distances from the pious believers all evils and calamities.
– One benefit of good deeds and worship is that losses in wealth are replenished and greater recompense is received.
– One of the benefits of virtuous acts and obedience is that by spending money towards the fulfilment of virtuous and worthy objectives, one’s wealth increases.
– The benefit of obedience in this world is that by the obedience of Allah Ta’aala, the heart is filled with peace and serenity. In comparison with this, the contentment of the kingdom of the 7 continents is nothing.
– Even one’s children reap the benefit of obedience and worship and such a person’s children are also protected from calamities.
– Hidden glad tidings are given on obedience e.g. good dreams. Thus the love and good thoughts of   increase, by which the Taufeeq of doing more good deeds take place.
– By doing good deeds, at the time of death , the angels give glad tidings of Jannat and the bounties that are found there and the pleasure of Allah Ta’aala.
– The effect of some forms of obedience is that when one is uncertain about something, then by carrying out a particular form of worship, all doubts and apprehension will be removed and one will be guided towards that in which there is complete benefit for one. Performing Salaatul Istikhaara and thereafter making dua is one such form of worship.
– Some forms of worship have this effect that they result in Allah Ta’aala’s taking upon Himself the responsibility of fulfilling the need of the virtuous person.
In a hadith Qudsi, it is mentioned “Son of Adam! Perform 4 rakaats of salaat for me in the beginning of the day, and I will fulfil all your needs till the end of the day.”
– Some virtuous acts have the effect that they cause Barakah in possessions. It is mentioned in a hadith that if the seller and buyer speak the truth and disclose the condition of the goods, then there will be Barakah for both of them in their transaction.
– By obedience, religious leadership and prosperity remain intact.
– By some monetary worship, the anger of Allah Ta’aala is appeased and one does not die a bad death.
Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam has said that Sadaqah (charity) cools the anger of Allah Ta’aala and saves one from a terrible death.
– One effect of worship is that dua causes calamities to be deviated and virtuous deeds cause one’s life to increase.
Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: “Predestined matters cannot be obviated except through dua and nothing extends one’s life except virtuous acts.”
– By reciting Surah Yaasin, all work is accomplished. Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “The needs of a person who recites Surah Yaasin in the morning will be fulfilled.”
– The Recitation of Surah Waaqiah protects one from poverty. Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: “The person who recites Surah Waaqiah (every night) will never be affected by poverty.
– By blessings of Imaan, one will be able to suffice on very little food. One person use to eat excessively. He accepted Islam and began to eat less. Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “A believer eats in one stomach and a non-believer eats to fill seven stomachs.”
– The blessings of some duas are that a person does not fear that he will be afflicted with sickness and difficulties. It is mentioned in a hadith that a person who, when seeing a sick or a person in difficulty recites:
●“All praises is due to Allah, who has kept me safe from that which  He has involved you with, and He has granted me, graces over most of those whom He has created gracefully.”
●Then that calamity will never befall him. This dua should be read softly so as to not hurt the person who is afflicted.
– Some duas have the blessing that worries are removed and debts are settled. In the Hadith this dua is mentioned:
“O Allah, I seek protection in You from worries and sadness and I seek protection in You from weakness and laziness and I seek protection in You from miserliness and cowardliness and I seek protection in You from overpowering debts and being overpowered by people.”
– Some duas are such that they protect one from the evil of the creation. In the hadith we have been promised protection reciting Surah Ikhlaas, Surah Falaq and Surah An-Naas 3 times every morning and evening.
– By some forms of worship, needs are fulfilled e.g. by performing SalatulHaajat and making dua, Allah Ta’aala fulfils one’s needs.
– By the blessings of Imaan and righteous deeds Allah Ta’aala becomes the helper and friend of such people.
– The angels are ordered to strengthen the hearts of those who embrace Islam and do good deeds and to keep them steadfast.
– People of perfect faith are granted genuine respect by Allah Ta’aala.
– By the blessings of Imaan and obedience Allah Ta’aala raises the status.
– By the Barkat of Imaan and obedience, Allah Ta’aala places the love of the obedient person in the hearts of the creation and he becomes accepted on ground.
– The Quraan is a source of guidance and cure for those believers who do righteous deeds.
– By being thankful, bounties increase.
– The Siraat (Bridge of Jahannam) in the Hereafter is the visible form of Siraat e Mustaqeem (straight path) of this world. A person who remained steadfast on Siraat e Mustaqeem in this world i.e. he lived his life in conformance with the Shariat and the Sunnat of Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam; he will pass over the Siraat in the hereafter correctly and safely. If you desire to cross the Siraat at the speed of lightning, then adhere strictly to the Shariat.
– On some forms of obedience e.g. On Sabr (patience, perseverance) Jannat has been promised. In a Hadith-e-QudsiNabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said that Allah Ta’aala says: “When I take the life of a beloved Mu’min and with the hope of Thawaab he exercises patience, then for him, I have no reward besides Jannat.”
– Every action has a visible form in the hereafter. It has come to be known from a Hadith in Tirmizi Shareef that the trees of Jannat are the Kalima:
“Pure are You, O Allah and All praise is for Allah alone. There is none worthy of worship besides Allah and Allah is the greatest.”
Thus the person who desires to have a great number of trees in his portion should excessively recite the above mentioned Tasbeeh.
– The visible form of Surah Ikhlaas in the hereafter is a palace. Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam has said that the person who recites Surah Ikhlaas 10 times has a palace prepared for him in the hereafter. He who recites it twenty times, for him two palaces will be prepared. Thus, every individual who desires to have a great number of palaces in the hereafter should excessively recite Surah Ikhlaas.
– In the Hereafter, the visible representation of a continuous deed (Sadaqah-e-Jaariah) is like a fountain. The one who desires to receive a fountain in Jannat, should give a lot of Sadaqah, charity and Lillah.
– In the hereafter, the visible representation of Deen (Religion) will be clothing. Thus the person, who desires to receive beautiful clothing in Jannah, should stick firmly to Deen and Taqwa.
– The visible representation of Surah Baqarah and Al Imraan in the hereafter will be dark clouds which will give shade, or rows upon rows of birds. Thus he who desires to have shade on the day of Qiyamat, should continue reciting these Surahs.
– The visible representation of Islamic knowledge in the hereafter is milk. The person who desires to receive a spring of milk in Jannat or drink fully from the Hauz-e-Kauthar, should acquire a lot of religious knowledge.
– The visible representation of Salaat is nur (light). The person who desires to have light on the Siraath should take particular care of his Salaat.
– The greatest benefit of worship and obedience is that Allah Ta’aala becomes pleased. In a Hadith-e-Qudsi, Allah Ta’aala says that when I am obeyed, I become pleased and when I become pleased, then I grant Barkat (prosperity) and there is no limit to My Barkat.
– By worship and righteous deeds, one benefits in the world also increase takes place in one’s sustenance, i.e. sometimes visible increase also takes place and Barkat is always found. One finds much benefit in a little sustenance and life is spent in peace.
– As a result of piety and virtuous deeds, many types of Barkat and blessings descend on the ground from all directions.
– Virtuous actions cause all sorts of difficulties and worries to be alleviated and one experiences a peaceful and heavenly existence.
– Allah Ta’aala makes it such that the needs and aspirations of virtuous persons are fulfilled easily.
– Life in this world is made easy and pleasurable. A pious man lives a life of such contentment that he becomes the envy of even the kings of this world.
– When virtuous acts become prominent, then the world experiences a great deal of benefits. Rainfalls become plentiful, wealth and children increase, the gardens bear splendid fruit and the waters of the rivers increase.
– Allah Ta’aala saves his pious servants from all sorts of evils.
– As a result of virtuous acts and piety, a person will be granted recompense for any losses in his wealth and he will receive even greater bounties in return.
– One of the benefits of virtuous acts is that by spending in good causes, one’s wealth is increased.
– The value of the ecstasy, joy, peace and contentment granted to the virtuous person far supersedes any of the treasures of the world.
– Even the children of the pious person receive the blessings of the virtuous deeds and they are saved from calamities and difficulties.
– By obedience and Ibadat, one is blessed with unseen glad tidings in this life. Good dreams are seen, e.g. He may see himself entering Jannat. By observing this his heart becomes pleased and love for Allah Ta’aala increases, through which he received Taufeeq to perform more virtuous acts.
– As a pious person is about to leave this world, the angels give him glad tidings of Jannat (paradise) and of the bounties and pleasures that are to be found there. They also inform him that Allah Ta’aala is pleased with him.

How valuable is The Love of Allah Ta’ala

by Hazrat Ml Abdul Hamid Ishaq Saheb DB

The person that attained the love of Allah Ta’ala has actually been freed from hundreds of worries. Many people write complaining of worries, depression, agitation, etc. The solution to it all is the love of Allah Ta’ala. When one has acquired the love of Allah Ta’ala then all the worries put together won’t even be a storm in a tea cup. If we are void of the love of Allah Ta’ala then small things are also major problems in our lives. We then complain that things not going as desired, the deliveries were not made timeously, we were overcharged for the goods, etc. These minor issues become major issues.

In one poem our Sheikh R.A says:
کوئی مرتا رہا کوئی جیتا رہا عشق اپنا کام کرتا رہا
Somebody dies, somebody lives, love continues doing its work

The births and deaths of people will not affect you when you possess the love of Allah Ta’ala. When Hadrat Maulana Qaasim Saheb Nanotwi R.A passed away then Hadrat Maulana Rasheed Ahmad Gangohi R.A said, “Had it not been for the great gift which Allah Ta’ala had given me, I would have become bed ridden.” The father of Hadrat Sheikh R.A asked, “Hadrat! What is it that you possess?” He replied, “It is that thing for which you people are sitting before me.” Hadrat Maulana Yahya Saheb R.A said, “Hadrat, please tell us clearly what you are referring to.” Hadrat Gangohi R.A then replied that it is the connection with Allah Ta’ala.

If a person that has a connection with Allah then irrespective of the difficulty that he experiences whether it is death or losing all his businesses will be trivial, else a person will consider suicide on a small issue. This can be further understood by a simple example. If you intend catching a cat then it should be caught by the head. If it is caught by the tail, it will turn around and scratch you.

We use the wrong approach in trying to sort out our problems. We either pick a fight with the opposition or take him to court or lay a charge against him or write him a stern lawyer’s letter. This is catching the problems by the tail. A person that develops the love of Allah Ta’ala has caught the problems by the neck. However, this doesn’t make sense to us. We say with pride, “ I will show him.” This doesn’t solve any problem rather it aggravates the situation.

The Hadith states:

من اصلح ما بينه وبين ربه اصلح الله ما بينه وبين خلقه
Whoever corrects the relationship between himself and his Rabb, Allah Ta’ala will correct (the relationship) between him and His creation.

This proves that it is not the employer that is causing inconvenience, nor the wife, children, mother, mother-in-law, but it indicates that we do not have a relationship with Allah Ta’ala. When a person hasn’t acquired Allah Ta’ala then he has acquired nothing. Our Sheikh R.A. says that a person makes plenty of Dua on Shab-e-Qadr, Shab-e-Baraa’at, etc. but he doesn’t ask of Allah, then he has asked for absolutely nothing. On the other hand, a person spends the entire night sleeping yet before falling off to sleep he sincerely asked of Allah to be his, then he has asked for everything. Generally, we admire a person that stays awake throughout the night in Dua and we look down upon the one that sleeps after Esha after making a concise Dua.

The Dua of Hadrat Gangohi R.A. towards the ending of his life was,

اللّٰهم اجعلنا لك وكن لنا
O Allah! Make us Yours and You become ours

This Dua should be made all the time.

 A poet beautifully states,

اگر تو میرا تو ہر شیء میری زمین میری آسمان میرا
اگر تو نہیں میرا تو کوئی شیء نہیں میری
If you are mine (O Allah), then everything is mine, the heavens are mine, the earth is mine
If you are not mine, then nothing is mine.
If questioned by any one, what my supplication is,
I supplicate from Allah, only Himself
That I become His, and that he becomes mine,
Is my supplication night and day.

When a person has got Allah then he has everything. The courtiers complained of Aayaz (who was a slave) to the king Sultaan Mahmood Ghaznawi R.A. He had become the king’s favourite because of the qualities that he had. The king said, “I will show you people who is Aayaaz.” The king laid out expensive jewellery in his palace. He then said, “Whatever you lay your hands upon belongs to you.” All the ministers began accumulating the maximum. However Ayaaz stood still. The king asked Ayaaz whether he had heard the announcement? He asked the king as to what was the announcement and the king repeated himself. He asked the king, “Are you sure of this announcement.” The king replied in the positive. He walked up and placed his hand on the shoulder of the king and said, “You are mine.” He then said, “You have only put out a fraction of what you actually own. If you are mine everything will be mine.” Similarly, if Allah Ta’ala is ours everything will be ours.

Sheikh Abdul Wahhab Sha’raani R.A. has written that there was a king that had allocated an hour daily to give people whatever they required irrespective of their need. However, the time changes on a daily basis, so we will establish a contact with his close ones to find out when is this time. He then explains that Allah Ta’ala grants us this time five times a day between the Adhaan and the Takbeer and during this time Allah proclaims that He will give whatever one requires. This Dua can be made whilst walking or driving to the Masjid. Some people are of the opinion that this virtue is particularly for Maghrib Salaah, rather it is for all five Salaah. The resources and generosity of Allah is unlimited. May Allah Ta’ala grant us the Taufeeq.

Problems cause one to get closer to Allah Ta’ala

by Hazrat Ml Abdul Hamid Ishaq Saheb (DB)

When a person experiences some difficulty then he changes his life and gets closer to Allah Ta’ala . A person changes after having a heart attack, or a person received a letter from the revenue starts getting up for Tahajjud. He now goes for the Fajr Salaah even before the Muazzin. These problems are actually a blessing in disguise for those that can handle it.

There is an incident of a poor little boy with torn and tattered clothes. He was standing on the road side requesting a lift but everyone was passing him at a speed. He picked up half a brick and threw it at a Ferrari windscreen. The driver was really upset and asked him, “How could you do this to my Ferrari?” The young boy said, “You weren’t listening to me.” Similarly when we do not listen to Allah Ta’ala then he throws a brick on our face and this is when we end up with endless problems.
These problems are blessings as Allah Ta’ala desires that we turn to Him. This is why Allah Ta’ala threw the brick on one’s face. A person that is awake doesn’t require a wake-up call. If a person doesn’t wake up, the alarm clock rings repeatedly.

If a person booked at a hotel and requested the receptionist to give him a wake-up call then a good receptionist will do his job properly by calling him. If he wants to trouble him then he will leave him alone and make him lose his flight. When Allah Ta’ala loves you He will send you a wake-up call. We should rather remain awake all the time so we don’t receive a wake-up call.

Some of our friends do not correspond regularly but the moment they face some problem we receive their letter. Many of them do not even come to Majlis but they attend Majlis when faced with a problem. We should be regular so that we do not have to face a brick in our face.

We can sacrifice thousands of our comforts for those problems that took us close to Allah Ta’ala. However, we should find the love of Allah Ta’ala. If you aren’t acquiring the love of Allah Ta’ala then He will send problems to you like the waves of the sea. When these problems arrive and you turn to Allah Ta’ala then you will be grateful for encountering such problems.

A good friend of mine had made an investment but he was not getting any returns. He had to maintain the place, pay towards rates and taxes, water bills, workers, etc. He started performing Tahajjud Salaah and things worked out well at a later stage. However, due to these problems he was given the Taufeeq of Tahajjud which is still continuing. Had the problem not affected him, leave Tahajjud, he wouldn’t even be performing his five daily Salaah. This is for those people that have made some effort on themselves, else problems cause one to become worse causing one to become depressed, or turns one towards drugs and alcohol, bad company, etc. some even go to the extent of swearing Allah Ta’ala for involving him in such a problem. In conclusion, Allah Ta’ala brings those closer whom he desires to draw towards him. However, the best and easiest method is to develop the love of Allah from before.
